LOTE DAY 2013 on PhotoPeach

On Friday the 30th of August, we had a Chinese Day where we only do activites based in China. It was our focus for the whole day. Some of the activites we did were, lantern making, dancing and medince/soup making.

For lantern making, some workers from ‘The Chinese Museum’ came in to teach us about lanterns and what they do. I learnt that, lanterns were made to cover over the candles so that when the wind blows, the candle wouldn’t blow out. We used skewers and rubber bands to make the shape of the lantern. Then we used some colorful tissue paper to cover our lantern and give it some color. We used this special glue made out of flour and water to paste on our special paper. The glue was very jiggly and it helped make the paper stay on the skewers without ripping or tear the paper.
