Canberra Camp

Australian Institute of Sport

Australian Institute of Sport is a famous sporting place in Australia. Most athletics and Olympians from all over the world come to this place to train. Inside, they have a swimming pool, a basketball court, a gym, a volleyball court and a gymnastics centre. For gymnastics, girls can join when they are 9 years old. Boys join when they are 18 years old. Because boys need to gain their upper body strength. While girls only need flexibility. In the gym, there is a wall of fame that has the names of the Olympians who has trained there. This is important for us because we need to understand that, you will succeed, if you believe.

War Memorial

The War Memorial is a place of respect and honoring. At this wonderful place, we remember those who fought and died in war to protect us. At the War Memorial there is an exhibition where visitors or schools groups can wonder and look aroun.  They tell us about what the soldiers had to do and how scary it would be to be in their situation. It also shows how horrible their deaths can be and now they like to have fun. The War Memorial is mostly famous for their ‘Roll of Honor’ wall. On this wall, there are the names of the Australian soldiers who had fought in war and died.  I learnt that, soldiers can earn a medal from bravery and that us citizen can earn the exact same medal as well. From doing something good.

Film and Sound Archive

At the Sound and Film Archive, you can experience the way a TV show actually works. You can learn Avery the way movie and cameras work in the past. At this place, you can do activities like making your own film strip and learning more about our newer technology. We got to watch movies and old TV shows and compare the difference from then and now. I learnt that a film strip has 24 frames and when it is played, it goes for 1 secon.  And if the director wanted to add a color effect to the scene, they would dip the strip in color dye. This is an important place for us to visit because we learn about technology and we understand how difficult things were back then.
